One Year of Change

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, is celebrating one year since it officially unveiled its new brand at the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2018. Millions of viewers across the world witnessed the new look and feel of the airline as its first incoming Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft gave a flypast before the race, showcasing not only the airline’s newest, state-of-the-art aircraft but also the new Gulf Air livery.

The rebranding comes as a part of a broad spectrum of recent , positive developments by Gulf Air, which include fleet modernisation, network expansion, enhanced product offering and a new direction for the airline’s growth . The change began with the embodiment of the warmth and friendliness that Gulf Air carries, expressing “Smart with a Heart”.

The airline’s key one-year rebrand anniversary milestones include fleet modernisation with Boeing 787 Dreamliners, A320neos, expansion of Gulf Air’s network in Asia, Europe and Africa. The new identity has expressed itself across every touchpoint right from the pre-flight magic at the check-in desks to the interiors of the aircraft and the Gulf Air crew’s re-styled uniforms. The Kingdom of Bahrain, known as “The land of two Seas”, was the starting point for the teams when designing Gulf Air’s new uniforms, with the choice of colours, shades of turquoise and aqua as a reference to the archipelago’s natural beauty. Bahrain’s landscape, where the rich heritage of the past meets modern architecture, infused the design of the new outfits with graphic cuts at the waist and sleek lines for the tailoring.

KEY STEPS

Our attempt to touch every point of contact with our passengers and transform their experience of flying began foremost with the addition of new aircraft to our fleet. We took delivery of our first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in April 2018 and till today we have received 6 Boeing Dreamliners and 2 Airbus 320neos.

Gulf Air’s iconic falcon too underwent transformation. The falcon embodies courage, perseverance and freedom – qualities that we heavily associate ourselves with. Redesigning of the falcon with finer detailing and bolder colours is our attempt to express innovation, quality service and raw beauty that make Gulf Air more than just an airline.

The fusion of heritage and the spirit of modern Bahrain is also expressed in the design of the aircraft interior. The newly modified seats offer more living space to passengers. The lie-flat bed is now wider, longer and more seamlessly deployed, while the entrance to the suite has been reshaped to enhance comfort. The cabin interior colour and material palette is inspired by the fine materials and craftsmanship of Bahrain’s artisans and the traditional sport of falconry. Rich brown leathers, a distinctive feather pattern and elegant gold accents reinterpret Middle Eastern opulence in a contemporary fashion . The result is a completely updated look and feel that is elegant, sophisticated and quintessentially Bahraini.
