No better time to shop in Singapore than during the Great Singapore Sale

Whenever I plan a trip, there are few things I always consider doing. First comes roaming like a local, then tasting the local food and third is knowing the local culture. I also like to go for some local souvenirs or something that reminds me of the place later. However, when I visited Singapore last year during the Great Singapore Sale, which usually happens in the months of June and July, I had to change my preferences.Called a shopper’s paradise, the best time to visit the island nation of Singapore for some low budget shopping is during the annual Great Singapore Sale. At times, discounts can go up to 70% on both branded and local stuff. Besides great discounts on shopping, during the sale, there is also the Singapore Food Fare to look forward to. Interesting promotions and offers on dining, beauty and wellness make it a total lifestyle experience. Let’s take a look at the main shopping areas.

Orchard Road

This long shopping strip is lined with dozens of large malls, which are home to popular retail outlets from around the globe such as Forever XXI, Zara and Fred Perry. It’s also a great place to shop for jewellery and perfume brands. Then there’s the ION Orchard Mall. Spread over 66,000 square metres, the mall houses labels like Dior Homme, Louis Vuitton and Diane von Furstenberg as well as trendy options such as Topshop, Forever21, Mango etc.

Bugis Junction

Bugis Junction features both indoor and outdoor shopping sections. If you are someone who has an eye for independent designer outfits, this is the place to be.

Marina Bay Sands

The most exclusive hotel in Singapore catering luxury lovers. People who have their hearts set on a classic Cartier watch or diamond earrings will find some real bargains here during this time.

Other shopping destinations

Other good places to shop include 313@ Orchard, Orchard Central or the Mandarin Gallery. Buy quirky stuff from budding local and international indie designers at Haji Lane in Kampong Glam. Ethnic enclaves like Chinatown, Kampong Glam and Little India have some valuefor- money steals.
