Jennifer Lopez is a singer, actor, producer, dancer, designer and author. But one thing she’s not is a homebody. “If I have been at home for more than two months or so at a stretch, I begin to get edgy! I am not exaggerating, people around me have told me that,” confesses the diva. Which is also the reason why J Lo is always ready for a vacation.
“I will always love France!”
“Nice, Paris, Cannes – what’s not to love! In fact, I am known in my circle as a Parisian tour guide. I know the place like the back of my hand. In the City of Light, I love the typical tourist spots like the Jardin des Tuileries and the Louvre Museum, but I am also a perpetual piece of furniture at the Chanel boutique on the Avenue Montaigne. I also know of several secret spots such as this awesome men’s shirt maker near the Champs-Élysées,” reveals Lopez, adding, “Nice is an extremely popular superyacht destination. Whether it’s the winding alleyways of the stunning old town, the high-end boutiques, the long sandy beach or the plentiful museums and galleries, there’s plenty to do in this quintessential French city. And the Riviera is just the best place in the world to celebrate love! I love the idea of candlelit dinners at La Chèvre d’Or in Èze, or one of my favourite hotels, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.”
Monaco is where the jet set of the world often make pit stops and J Lo is no different. “I want the best of all worlds on a holiday. A vacation is often no holds barred, and pulling all stops! So Monaco is always on the itinerary when I am in France, or Italy. The Place du Casino, the Hôtel Hermitage Crystal Bar and the Alain Ducasse à L’hôtel De Paris are like magnets to me!’ adds Lopez.
Besides the French Riviera, some other destinations that find favour with the glamorous diva are beach locales. “I am obsessed with the sea! Florida is on top of my list. Home to a myriad of superyacht marinas, there is something for everyone here. I personally recommend an airboat tour of the ancient Everglades to every nature-lover to see the legendary alligators, while culture vultures should definitely time their visit with the Art Basel fair. Casa Tua has awesome seafood,” suggests J Lo. The glamazon also has distinct preferences when it comes to enjoying city vibes.
Speaking of her favourite haunt in Manhattan, J Lo says, “I love the Waldorf Astoria in midtown Manhattan. It is my own oasis in a bustling desert. I love my luxuries, and the best bit is that it is large and spacious, occupying a whole block on Park Avenue. Aside from its regal splendour, the fact that it is walking distance from Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Centre, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the world-famous galleries and shopping of Fifth Avenue. It is the small details that the hotel spoils you with. I am sure you know about the reams that have been written about my ‘diva tantrums’.”
For someone who has seen it all, J Lo wishes to “take an extensive six-month holiday travelling the world”. She confesses to sometimes sit with her kids’ atlas and “gaze at maps to see what is intriguing”. Where does this stunner dream of holidaying next? “I have been to India, but I want to see the backwaters in Kerala and the desert of Rajasthan. I definitely want to see more of the Middle East. I want to go dune bashing in the Emirates. I am dying to float in the Dead Sea! And definitely live in a luxurious tent in the Middle Eastern desert. Someday!” she signs off.
