The Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2019 is set to be this year’s biggest sporting and entertainment event in the Kingdom. The Formula 1 weekend will take place over four action-packed days from March 28 to 31 at the Bahrain International Circuit, “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East”, located in the Sakhir desert, the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2019 will be the second of 21 races on the 2019 FIA Formula 1 World Championship and the 999th World Championship race in the history of Formula 1. A part of the landmark 15th season of BIC, this will be the sixth time the race is taking place under BIC’s state-of-the-art floodlights as a night race. Over the years, the Grand Prix race in Bahrain has established itself as one of the most captivating and visually enticing events of the entire Formula 1 calendar and 2019 promises to be an even greater spectacle.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel triumphed in the last two editions of the Bahrain Grand Prix. He currently holds the record for having won the most races in Sakhir, having also triumphed in 2012 and 2013 when driving for Red Bull. If he wins this year, Vettel could pull a historic hat-trick in Bahrain. But he will certainly face a stiff challenge from the likes of defending champion Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, as well as Max Verstappen of Red Bull.
Aside from Formula 1, there will be plenty more racing happening during the weekend with two supporting categories: the FIA Formula 2 Championship and the Porsche BWT GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East. Formula 2 will kick off its 2019 campaign in Bahrain, while the Porsche BWT GT3 Cup, celebrating its 10th season, will be holding its championship finale here.
For the first time ever, BIC will open its gates to the general public on March 28. Fans will be able to enjoy a wide array of attractions on offer at the circuit’s vending area, take part in a Formula 1 pit walk or simply have a memorable time walking around.
