With each passing year we see new models hitting the marketplace, but this year’s crop of new cars, rather supercars,is more than just usual

BUGATTI CHIRON

French boutique automaker Bugatti argues that its Veyron deserves a successor and hence came up with Chiron. The Chiron morphed from videogame figure to production with a few changes to its lithe and low styling, while the production model will feature an 8.0-litre W-16 engine. Bugatti claims it to be the “world’s most powerful, fastest, luxurious and most exclusively produced sports car”.

ALFA ROMEO GIULIA

Talk Italians and the cars that come to strike are Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Isotta Fraschini. Similarly, Alfa Romeo is among these legendary brands and the Alfisti, as the most diehard Alfa Romeo enthusiasts are known, get emotional at the mere mention of the names Spider Veloce, Typo 33 Stradale and Montreal. And now, the Giulia Quadrifoglio is a new addition to this list. The Quadrifoglio is a Giulia, but pumped up to 505 hp at 6500 rpm, thanks to a twinturbo and 2.9-litre V6 engine.

FORD GT

Perhaps the most anticipated debut of 2017 will be the late arrival of the Ford GT supercar, which has tantalised the showgoers at exhibitions around the world. The GT has some of the most stunningly exotic bodywork in existence. Highlights include a mid-engine twin-turbo 3.5-litre V-6 making more than 600 hp, carbon-fibre construction and body panels, active aerodynamics and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic; a manual won’t be offered. Expect a battle on the road and race track!

JAGUAR F-PACE

Is it not enough for Land Rover to be the SUV branch of the Jaguar Land Rover cartel? Apparently not, as Jaguar is coming up with the F-Pace that evolves the styling cues from the C-X17 concept, with some subtle differences. Available with a choice of three engines: two supercharged V-6s, along with a turbo-diesel four-cylinder. Like the Cayenne did for Porsche, the F-Pace has the potential to become this iconic British brand’s new best-seller.
